Last weekend was I embarked on two races back to back, not advised by my coach 😬 Two totally different races and weather.
Saturday: Lakeland Trails Cartmel - revised distance to 10k and start time of 1pm. With stormy weather, waterlogged trails and ankle deep mud plus losing both shoes at different points in the race. I turned up with 3 mins before the race start (not knowing the revised time as was travelling), stripped off, started at the back of everyone and powered through to finish 4th overall.
Sunday: Cheviot Trail series race 1, Fenwick to Wooler - This was along the At Cuthbert's way in beautiful sunshine but was a tad gusty (a lot actually). No drama today at the start and nestled in with the lead group but made a nav error and found ourselves back in the pack. Caught the new leader at the half way point and settled into 2nd place for most of the 2nd half of the race but going into the last mile, I seemed to have an energy drain and couldn't dig in to hold off the field behind dropping to 5th overall only a minute behind 1st.
Great weekend of racing in two contrasting but absolutely beautiful surroundings and weather conditions. I was in heaven as people who know me know I love to race 😎
Wouldn't be able to do any of this without my coach Mark Marchant who is fab and gets me into perfect condition to tackle these adventures 😘 If you are thinking about coaching to help get you to the next level, drop Mark a message through his page below.
