IT’S TIME TO DEFY THE ODDS 🌟It’s not about the injury; it’s about the strength in your recovery. It’s not about the inner battle; it’s about the peaceful war. It’s easy to stand when the odds are in your favor; but what if they’re not?
My first ballroom dancing was June 3, 2014. It’s crazy to think that when I flash forward to November of 2017, I competed Pro/Am Open Gold International Latin. That’s a humbling statistic to think about! Now throw in a torn hip, 2 major concussions, 1 torn partially torn ligament- just to name the physical hurdles during those years. 2018 taught me that rushing an injury prolongs the recovery when the ligament tore again and the ankle more seriously sprained, so, yeah the I thought about hanging up my shoes crossed my mind. .
There I said it 😩 yes scary enough anyone who has stood along side of me this last year has heard me utter the words of “maybe this is it for me!” Looking back since 2014, I spent almost as much time off of the dance floor as I did on and the truth is, that walking away would be the “easy” route and well, that just wouldn’t be me! I’ve fought tirelessly to get back there, not once, or twice, but multiple times to get there! I’m aiming for the podium as I always have but I truly know, I’ve already won. I am stepping back out on the floor and I am fit to compete! #cleared
Those words: “You are probably never going to dance competitively again.” That’s no longer my prognosis and if that’s a challenge, then #IAccept
