⭐️ GOLD STAR TO MEL! ⭐️
Melanie has just finished her studies in Digital Media Design with a major in Interaction Design at Torrens University Australia, with plans to continue as post graduate student. She also has works as a UX Designer AbilityMade, using digital technology to produce affordable ankle-foot orthoses for people with disabilities.
She is quite passionate about her study and her career.
Mel only has a flicker of movement in her fingers and she relies on it to drive her motorized wheelchair independently and to use the computer for the study and work purposes. Mel works hard with her Physio sessions at home to improve her functional ability and prevent deterioration. Her goals include maintining independency, maintaining her strong social network and supporting others with disability through public speaking, participate in consumer consultations, and attending Design Workshops within Australia and around the world.
In 2017, Melanie was selected as one of the Laureate Global Fellows – an international fellowship for young social entrepreneurs.
Melanie is the first person in the world with a neuromuscular condition to complete The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – she is the recipient of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Award.
In October 2018 Melanie was selected, from a network of more than one million students, as the winner of the Laureate International Universities Here for Good Award. The award recognizes a student from the Laureate network who is using education as a platform to help create positive social change. Following her success, at just 22 years of age, Melanie has become a sought-after public speaker, presenting at TEDxYouth@Sydney, the Enhancing the Links Seminar, and more recently, at TEDx Sydney following her thought-provoking pitch.
I am personally so proud to work with Melanie. She proves that disability does not define a person 💙🧡 To read more follow the link below!
